The Great TREK - #32

August the 12th – Our 7th leg

Continued to "explore" the city of Cape Town, this time I took my kids to see one of the most colorful neighborhoods of the city, namely Bo-Kaap.

Known for its brightly colored houses, situated at the foot of Signal Hill, it is the "spiritual" home of the Cape Muslim's Community.

Bo-Kaap has a fascinating history. Many of the residents are descendants of slaves from Malaysia, Indonesia and various African Countries, who were imported to the Cape of Good Hope by the Dutch during the 16th and 17th Centuries.

After the visit to the neighborhood, we went to town itself.

The Great TREK - #17

July the 18th -  Our 5th Leg

Ufff. Forgot how miserable Cape Town weather can get in Winter. Rainy season.

Today, decided to go to one of the most visited destinations in South Africa, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (V&A) for some photography.

V&A Waterfront is situated at the foot of Table Mountain, within a stone's throw from Cape Town Stadium and in the heart of Cape Town's working harbor, offering visitors abundance of unforgettable experiences.
Indoor shopping and entertainment venues seamlessly merge with ocean and mountain views.

I went Alone as my son wanted to stay with his Grandparents. The weather was not good at all for photography, but I really needed to get out for a bit.

After a lovely lunch at the Cape Town fish market and Sushi bar, went back home as the weather was getting darker.

The Great TREK - the Plan

Visiting the family

After a couple of years of not coming to "my Country" South Africa to visit the family, I decided to take an extended holiday and visit the western part of South Africa.

This time I will be going alone with my youngest son who is 10 years old and as you can see from the map below, we will be travelling quite a bit and see quite a lot.
The places we will be seeing:-

1) Johannesburg
2) Graskop and the the surrounding areas of Mpumalanga, doing the Panoramic route
3) Journey back and sleeping over in Vanderbijlpark
4) Kuruman and the Kalahari
5) Augrabies National Park
6) Into Namibia
7) Goibib and Canyon Village to visit the second biggest canyon in the world (Fish River Canyon)
8) Okiep
9) Namaqualand
10) Karoo National Park
11) Capetown

These are some of the places we will be visiting

Then after a whole month alone with my boy, my wife and daughter will be arriving before we start the visit to the family in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

I hope it all goes well.

This is a rough map of the places we will be going before visiting the family.

I will be keeping everybody posted of our travels, so, let's hope everybody will be safe....
