Morning Walk in Maputo

Confront my Demons

As some of you know, I have been robbed twice In Mozambique, which, as you might understand gets you psychologically.
People in Mozambique generally, feel very uncomfortable to be photographed due to their cultural beliefs. One thing though I find interesting is that young people do not mind at all, actually, they do like to be photographed. The problem is with the older generation.

The other problem is my insecurity feeling of walking alone and making street photos. I am always at an uneasy feeling and not concentrating as I should be in looking for subject matter to make beautiful photos.

So, I do not photograph as much as I want due to various circumstances, but I do really try.

Yesterday I decided to pick up my camera and do a morning street walk photography to "confront my demons", as I know that with time, maybe my uneasiness will go away. Maybe...

To overcome some stress to people I always take my FUJI INSTAX SHARE SP-1 and whenever I want to take a portrait of someone, I offer them a photo. This is always great for a conversation and ice breaker. They love the outcome and photos I offer them (need to buy some more film as I am running out).

Anyway, the following photos are some I picked from the 5 km walk I did.
