Istanbul with the Nikon Z6

Istanbul - a City to come back

December while going home for Christmas, I decided to fly Turkish Airlines, for me, one of the best to fly.
The nice thing about flying from Maputo to Lisbon, Portugal is that you can choose a connecting flight with enough time so that you can go and visit this beautiful historic city.

With the new airport, you have to take a bus (Taxi could be expensive due to the distance to the city centre) and visit Istanbul. It is my third visit and always enjoy it.

I had three hours in Istanbul, so I took the bus that stops exactly at Sultanahmet Square, where we can visit (time permitting) the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Camii), and other beautiful and historic buildings.

I took my brand new Nikon Z6 with the Z50mm 1.8 S lens.

Again end of February will do another connecting flight and visit Istanbul, this time will be going close to Eminonu surroundings where the Spice Bazar is close by.

Almada Velha - A Monochrome view

Fuji X100f

Once in a while, I have to take a "photographic" walk with one of the most beautiful photo cameras in the market, the Fujifilm X100f.

I Decided to go for this walk in one of the oldest suburbs of Almada, called Almada Velha (Old Almada) dating back to 1192 from the Arab Conquest.

This walk was done last December while I was on my yearly Holiday for Christmas.

This suburb has to have one of the nicest views of Lisbon, especially at night. It is simply gorgeous.

This walk I decided to use the ACROS settings of FUJI as I think it is a great film simulation for such an old historic neighbourhood.

3 Hours at the Kruger National Park

Nikon Z

This Saturday I did my first Kruger National Park visit for 2020. IT was a quick visit as I had to do some shopping after the long holidays.

Also, it was the first visit with my Newest camera, NIKON Z6.
I took my Tamron 150mm-600mm to no avail as it did not work with the Z6. Today I read that it has to go for a firmware update to be "compatible" with Nikon Z6. Hope it works as I use it a lot at the Kruger Park.

Ver crispy photos indeed. I am enjoying taking photos with the Z6.

Early Xmas - a new Camera

The Mighty Nikon Z6

There are times when you think that technology really leaps forward a couple of years.

I have had a full-frame Nikon D600 since 2013 which, until now was very happy with it (or so I thought).

Then in 2014, I bought the FUJI X-T1 Mirrorless camera, and I thought, wow, this is really cool. I could just WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). So much simpler, smaller and fantastic colour rendition, photos, all the works.

I really enjoyed my Fujifilm so much that I also bought the X100T for some street/documentary photos, but unfortunately got stolen in my new home country - Mozambique.
On one of my business trips I bought the fantastic small Fuji X70, and for some time that was my everyday camera for documenting life in Southern Africa.

But as I was missing my X100T, again on one of the business trips I bought another Fuji, this time the perennially beautiful X100F. This is my walking around camera, documenting all the places I visit when on a business trip and holidays photos (very few indeed).

As I am a Mirrorless convert, I only used my Nikon D600 on my monthly Kruger National park visits for my monthly therapy, you know what I mean.

But then everything changed. NIKON launched a beauty of a camera and entered the mirrorless photography world.

Again, on one of my last business trips, December last year (2019) I went all in and bought the Z6 with the "kit" lens 24-70mm lens.

What can I say? Now I have a problem.  I simply love this camera. The photos, crisp, beautiful colours, extremely sharp images, simply stunned by this camera. Well done Nikon

To prove what I am writing here, I am sharing some photos taken last December while on holiday back in Europe.

Enjoy the photos.
