The Great TREK - Family visit

Visiting my Sister in Johannesburg

Always nice to come back home to visit the family. We arrived early morning in O.R. Tambo international Airport after a long flight from Frankfurt on the mother of all air planes the Fabulous Airbus A380.
After 4 days visiting my sister, I will pick up the rent a car and tomorrow early morning go to the first leg of our TREK, that is Mpumalanga province. I can feel that my 10 year old son is a bit apprehensive, but he will enjoy this trip.

We will be travelling this beautiful province for 5 days before going to the Kalahari and the Augrabies falls National park.

MOST of the photos for this blog, of this trip will be done with the fabulous FUJI X-T1 camera, two lenses, the 35mm and the 18-55mm, with all my photos catalogued in Lightroom (great promotion going on at the folks in ADOBE).

 The big one. A380

First coffee after the landing. Great Honey-Nut Latte in Woolworths airport

Now, the food is still cheap. €6,25 for a 500gr T-bone tender steak

The Great TREK - the Plan

Visiting the family

After a couple of years of not coming to "my Country" South Africa to visit the family, I decided to take an extended holiday and visit the western part of South Africa.

This time I will be going alone with my youngest son who is 10 years old and as you can see from the map below, we will be travelling quite a bit and see quite a lot.
The places we will be seeing:-

1) Johannesburg
2) Graskop and the the surrounding areas of Mpumalanga, doing the Panoramic route
3) Journey back and sleeping over in Vanderbijlpark
4) Kuruman and the Kalahari
5) Augrabies National Park
6) Into Namibia
7) Goibib and Canyon Village to visit the second biggest canyon in the world (Fish River Canyon)
8) Okiep
9) Namaqualand
10) Karoo National Park
11) Capetown

These are some of the places we will be visiting

Then after a whole month alone with my boy, my wife and daughter will be arriving before we start the visit to the family in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

I hope it all goes well.

This is a rough map of the places we will be going before visiting the family.

I will be keeping everybody posted of our travels, so, let's hope everybody will be safe....

My Take on Pont de Pierre

Bordeaux - Not only the Wine Country

On my way back home after my 12 day journey to North Western France, I decided to sleep for two nights in Bordeaux so that I could visit the wine country, namely the Médoc Region as I did not have enough time on my hands.

Concerning the Médoc Region I did post a blog about it with Beautiful photos of the Chateaux, so please check it out.

On the second night I wanted to know a bit more about the city itself, and, What do you know, It was a great surprise for me.

Here are 2 reasons Why I say Bordeaux city was a beautiful experience:-
