July the 8th - our 2nd Leg
Decided to go for a quick walk to see the Sunrise with my son. But wow... That was really cold, so much so, that I could not photograph much, as my son was really uncomfortable with the cold.
Came back to the lodge for a quick breakfast and go for the 6 km hike. The hike is very well signaled so the orientation was easy, but there were some points that were harder to do as we had to cross the mighty Orange river a couple of times.
The hike is simply beautiful as we come across so many different landscape (Moon rock, potholes, etc..) and flora and fauna scenery, where the last 2 km we had an adrenalin rush as we walked with wild baboons, this was really "stressful" as my son was really "worried".
Anyway, the hike was fantastic, but we got really hungry as I forgot to pack some food for the hike.
The hike took us 4 hours to finish the circular route.
That night we did a 2 hour night drive with the local guide, but saw nothing and we froze as it really got cold.
Arrived back at the lodge at about 20h30 and started preparing our 3rd leg of our journey "towards Namibia".
Augrabies is a place I have to come back and stayed a bit longer, as we loved it (Except for a big male baboon stealing our road food bag from our lodge).
As the Orange river approaches Augrabies Falls, it divides itself into numerous channels before cascading down the 56 meter high waterfall. The river then continues its path through an 18 km gorge. The sight and sound of the power of the water will not be easily forgotten.
